I found this piece of furniture in a horse barn in pieces. As soon as I saw it I got all excited at the thought of restoring it for myself.
Anyone that knows me would expect flowers all over it. However the wood was so beautiful and the chair matched so well that I just couldn't put paint on it.
Second Chance furniture is just that, giving a favorite piece
of furniture a second chance at being useful.
This chair was cast off. it needed a little work, cleaning up, and a lot of love.
With the whimsical painting on the chair I felt it would make a wonderful planter to set in a garden, on your porch , or in your parlor.
If you have a favorite piece of furniture that has "seen better days", but you can't find it in your heart to part with it, bring it to my shop and watch me turn it into something unique and special just for YOU!
A friend of mine gave me this table, then she said , "My husband thinks it looks
like a Lily pad.what do you think you can do with it? "
I laughed and my girlfriend and I decided it should have a big frog on the top.
So with a lot of planning, and more laughter, I sent her the sketch of the table.
It was a big hit~
I base painted it white, sketched out the frog and friends and started to create what we call,
"The Frog in the Bog"!
Her husband thought it would be a great conversation piece to share with his small grandchildren!
Last a piece of glass was cut for the top to protect it.
Now the grandchildren can have breakfast on the porch with there grandfather and use there special table. Not to mention a conversation piece to have fun with!

When I first bought this chair I could see potential in the frame.
I first opened up the seat to find horse hair and mice running as fast as they could out of the seat!
I had to keep telling my self that they were only mice!
The smell was so bad I had two masks on and still I could smell it.
As I worked I kept spraying it with KOE to disinfect the air and the chair. Once the fabric was all removed and the stuffing gone, (4 boxes full) I could see that the chair was sound and had great curves.
On the side are small harp shaped sides, the chair reclines, head piece also moves and best of all it is a rocking chair.
I scrubbed the wood with Murphy's oil soap and rinsed it down, all the chair needed was to be re-stained and a clear finish of urethane put on it.
